One Month Old!

One month old on April 1, 2012

Weight – 8 lb 6 oz
Length - 20 in

Longest Stretch of Sleep - 6.5 hours (but more often 2 hour stretches in the day and a good 4 hour stretch at night until the first feeding and 2 hour stretches after that)

This month I can -
-Follow movement with my eyes
-Lift my head when laying on my stomach

-Somewhat smile

-React to sounds in the room by showing a startle reflex or blinking

Annabelle had a successful first month! She has gained 1 lb 3 oz from birth and is in line with the development expected for her age. At 2 weeks old she was diagnosed with reflux and colic. She was given Zantac for her reflux and the dosage was increased at her 4 week visit to reflect her new weight. We think it's helping, but we will see even more so when the new dosage is given. She was diagnosed with colic because she typically crys for more than 3 hours a day, sometimes as much as 5 or 6 hours. She now sleeps in her big girl crib and seems to enjoy being in her room. She also has successfully taken a bottle and a pacifier. This month she had many visitors from VA: her Nana, Poppa, Aunt Holly, Ganny, Gaga. She also visited with some of Mommy and Daddy's friends who live in the Alpharetta area. Annabelle and Mommy go to a breastfeeding support group twice a week and she was the youngest attendant during our first few weeks. We have also gone to Starbucks which she loved! Daddy got a part-time job this month and hasn't been able to spend as much time with us as he wants, but soon he will be starting his new job and will be home much more often which we are very happy about!

Annabelle's Favorite Things: Bath time, playing/looking at the butterflies on her bouncy seat, car rides, walks, eating, being with Mommy and Daddy, looking at lights and out of the windows

Annabelle's Least Favorite Things: getting her diaper changed, spitting up so much that milk comes out of her nose, taking medicine, changing clothes
